Taipei Pride – Taiwan – Oct 31, 2009

Taipei Pride March 2009

On October 31, 2009 Taiwan Pride held its’ 7th gay pride parade down the streets of downtown Taipei.  With roughly 25,000 in attendance, the march is one of the largest in Asia.  The theme was “Love Out Loud,” with the parade marching past government offices, sites linked to the Taipei LGBT community, and beginning and ending in front of the Presidential Office.

It was on a whim that Chad first photographed this parade, yet this parade was the spark that helped launch this project.  It was less than a week later that Chad came up with the idea for the “Walk with Pride” project, a year of photographing and documenting gay pride parades around the globe.
